I would like to emphasize that this is not meant for recruitment of individuals. This is in response to recent talk about merging guilds, and I would like to offer a proposal for the possibility of HMU leading such a merge.
There exists a desire for members of smaller guilds to merge into one guild for various reasons. Some of the guilds in our (presently) full alliance contain few members, and merging would allow for new guilds to join. This would also help many to be more closely connected in and out of the game. However, as a guild leader myself, I do realize that leaders, officers, and even regular members can develop a sense of belonging in a particular guild. Some might feel that they would lose their autonomy and guild culture, regardless of the number of members or how long the guild has existed. I feel that this is the most important consideration, especially the time and effort involved in establishing, developing, and maintaining a guild. All I can do in compensation is offer a pleasant transition and future in HMU if a guild chooses to accept this proposal.
I imagine the foundation of HMU's guild is more complex than that of other guilds. This is because the HMU guild is merely an extension of the larger HMU gaming community (clan). All guild members are also clan members, and only clan members may join the guild. As a result, if a merge were to take place, all incoming members would be required to hold clan membershp as well. This is not as evil as it might sound, and I believe this will be considered by many as at least satisfactory to warrant a merge.
The HMU clan was founded in March 2005, a few months before the guild was created. Our clan is a multiplayer gaming community, but we prefer to see ourselves as a group of friends first. Our priority is the ability to socialize in a venue away from our normal worldly routines, but obviously being able to play games together enhances the experience. I feel that our structure and resources afford our members a sense of meaning and appreciation. Our members are of good character, and I like to promote the community feeling from the very beginning. Our voice server, website, and forums are the foundation of our group, but along with those are many other services. These services are available to all clan members, but I realize that special consideration is appropriate if an entire guild were to join. Leaders and officers will wish for similar responsibilities and advantages, and those can be provided in HMU.
Over the last four years, Guild Wars has become a large part of our identity, and our involvement with the xMEx alliance has been a great benefit. I offer this proposal as a way to give back to the alliance, hoping that those interested would see this as a beneficial opportunity. Guild leaders can email me at
